Cairns City Backpackers Hostel

An ideal Cairns hostel; small, quiet and friendly, and best of all it is ideally located in a quiet backstreet just a short walk from the heart of Cairns and a 5 minute walk to Cairns Central Shopping Centre.

There is a maximum of only 70 guests so it is easy to make lifelong friends. They are not a Cairns party hostel, and have a quiet time/no drinking time from 10.30 pm to allow guests to get a good nights sleep. However,the free dinners at the Woolshed Pub will help save you money and let you party till late.

Cairns City Backpackers Hostel consists of two fully renovated Queenslander houses loaded with character, and a tropical, fully landscaped garden which includes many grand old palm trees, a cute swimming pool and lots of hammocks and sun lounges for you to chill out in. The hostel also has a sofa area to flop yourself into, and a billiard table to challenge your room mates.

The friendly and helpful staff have lots of good advice and information about tours including access to standby specials. The owner Dave, used to be a dive instructor on the Great Barrier Reef so can answer all of your questions about reef trips. Cairns City Backpackers is run by a friendly couple, Dave and Hiromi and both very knowledgeable about local tours and things to do whilst you are in Cairns. There is a complete tour desk offering more tours than you can imagine and with example more than 20 different trips on offer to the Great Barrier Reef alone, there is bound to be one that suits you.

Cairns City Backpackers Hostel offers clean, cheap and comfortable air conditioned single, double, twin, 4 and 6 bed dorms. Some have their own private shower facilities and all have fans. All rooms have fresh linen and towels are available free of charge. Naturally, Cairns City Backpackers has a fully equipped laundry and 3 kitchens for those of you on a budget. The hostel also hosts state of the art hi-tech security lockers for your important possessions.

If you wish to walk from the bus terminals we are a 15 minute walk from the premier bus terminal and a 30 minute walk from the greyhound terminal. There are local shuttle busses that can bring you to Cairns City Backpackers Hostel.
