GOLD COAST

AUSTRALIA’S PLAYGROUND
There are many resort towns up and down the eastern coastline of Australia, but none of them are more well-establishe
As Australia's fastest growing region, the Gold Coast is also well known as one of the most visited resorts up the coast, and there is no wonder why! It’s Australia's top holiday destination, with 70km of white sandy beaches, 100,000 hectares of world heritage-listed rainforests, fantastic national parks, great nightlife, and the iconic meter maids - a place you just won’t want to miss.
Surfers Paradise, at the heart of the Gold Coast, is famous for its outrageous nightlife. 'Surfers' as its known offers a dazzling array of nightclubs, bars for all ages, neon lights, and three organised pub-crawls, that's enough to ensure a great night out. There are also more attractions on the Gold Coast than in any other city in the Southern Hemisphere. The Gold Coast is truly Australia's theme park capital. It's home to Dreamworld, Sea World, Wet 'n' Wild, and Warner Bros Movie World - each deserving at least a one day visit. Get your heart pumping with a bit of adventure sport too! Grab a 4WD, go bungy-jumping, take a helicopter tour, or dive into one of the many water sports available; jet-boating, jet-skiing, water-skiing and of course where else but Surfers to get your surf lessons!
While here you should also stop at one or more of the many wildlife parks to meet some of Australia's favourite feathered creatures! Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and David Fleay Wildlife Park are two of the best in the country. Currumbin is most famous for its lorikeet bird feeding, world class Free Flight Bird Show, and boasts the largest walk-in Aviary in the Southern Hemisphere. However, the most sought after attraction is the WILDNIGHT ADVENTURE, Currumbin comes alive when the sun goes down with an Aussie BBQ, Aboriginal dance, and a nocturnal wildlife an event you wont want to miss. Adventures and natural wonders abound within the coastline, islands, rainforests, and waterways.
Once you have partying and taken in the bright lights, head along the coast to one of the quieter beaches. At the south end next to the airport or NSW border is one of the best: Coolangatta. Picturesque and palm-lined Coolangatta is renowned for its barrel waves and World Class surf tournaments, think Rip Curl Pro. Serious surfers will love this particular strip of paradise. If surfing isn't for you, enjoy the sand and the sun, take one of the walking tracks, or indulge in a bit of local surf shopping.
After the beaches and want to cool off, why not head 30 kilometres inland to explore World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park, Australia's largest preserved subtropical rainforest. Lamington offers walking tracks, caves, waterfalls, and magical swimming holes. Also worth checking out are Tambourine Mountain, with its 300m-long elevated walkway to explore the upper reaches of the rainforest canopy, and Springbrook National Park.
