Bondi – what’s there?

Inhabited by backpackers, billionaires, board riders and the body beautiful, Bondi is one of Sydney's most eclectic and exciting precincts. The main thoroughfare, Campbell Parade, has surf shops, takeaway outlets, souvenir sellers, cafés, restaurants, bars and fish and chip shops. For more stunning beaches, follow the boardwalk to Tamarama (aka Glamarama), Bronte and Coogee.

Eastern suburbs – what’s there?

With shimmering beaches, magnificent coastal walks and a protected Marine Reserve that attracts snorkellers and scuba divers, the eastern suburbs are a beach-lover’s haven.

Things to do

Swim in Wylie's Baths, completed in 1907, destroyed and rebuilt in 1978, a great place for a salty, sea-spray dip    Scuba dive or snorkel at Gordons Bay with a local dive operator.

Things to see

Royal Randwick Racecourse    Centennial Park, where you can hire roller blades or go horse-riding    The La Perouse Museum
