THE UNCROSSABLE SPLENDOUR

The World Heritage Area-listed Blue Mountains remains one of the best places in New South Wales to experience nature at its best.  An awe-inspiring place, the mountains have been drawing people to them even before European settlement, and certainly before Captain Tench and Lieutenant Dawes tried unsuccessfully to traverse the mountains in 1789.  Today, visitors can peek out at the very same sights, including the famous rock formation The Three Sisters, and the Katoomba Scenic Railway, the steepest railway in the world.  Enjoy all the natural wonder, only a few hours from Sydney CBD.

DAY TOURS

Day tours from Sydney are a great way to see the Blue Mountains heritage area from your Sydney accommodation.  Many companies run a pick up and drop off service and will provide an informative and enjoyable day out.  BLUE MOUNTAINS SPECIAL OFFER

TREKKING

Trekking often refers to long hiking trips through rugged territory, and there’s no place better to go trek than out in the Blue Mountains.  There are tours available for both the amateur who wants to spend only a few hours out in the wilderness, and there are tours available for the more experienced wilderness explorer looking for something a little longer.

Whatever your endurance level, trekking gives travellers and up-close and personal view of some of the best scenery in the world.  It is a completely different experience than an ordinary tour, which would have gone somewhere closer to civilization.  Interacting with nature by climbing rock faces or navigating across mountains, the experience you have while trekking is completely up to you.

SOMEWHERE TO STAY

Katoomba is a perfect jumping off point for those who intend to stay at the Blue Mountains for more than a day, since it's in the heart of the Blue Mountains region and only two kilometers from The Three Sisters.  The Blue Mountain YHA is also located in Katoomba; for more information about the YHA, check it out - it's under the "Blue Mountains" designation, under the "Beds" tab on the widget to the left.
