Travelling south from Sydney

Tell a Friend

From pristine beaches to an unrivalled wonderland and certainly a road less travelled by most before you. The Southern Highlands are undiscovered to most international visitors.  Although 'the word' is starting to get out and more campervans and hire cars are finding there way there all the time. Mittagong, Bowral and Berrima are major towns in the highlands but are 'quaint' by international standards.  Reached by the Hume Highway they are full of historic houses, craft and antique shops, wineries and cafes.  A taste of the country just 2 hours from the city.

Take the other southern highway (the Grand Pacific Drive) and you will travel 140 kms of some of NSW most stunning coastline, a stop at 'the Gong' (Wollongong) or Bateman's Bay is well rewarded with a truly provincial Australian experience.  Beyond are the coastal resorts of Shoalhaven, Eurobodalla and Eden (home of a whale museum).
