AUSTRALIA'S GALAPAGOS

An island seven times the size of Singapore with enough bushland, wildlife and fantastic clean beaches to make any national park green with envy, Kangaroo Island's a beautiful escape from any worries you've ever known. The third largest island in all of Australia, it's full of towering cliffs, lush forests, wetlands, white beaches, large sand dunes, adorable little towns, and some of the nicest people around, not to mention the island's namesake among other creatures. It's home to arts communities, gastronomic adventures and a variety of outdoor activities. Make sure you get down here as soon as possible; the laid-back atmosphere that 'KI' seems to be all about is set to change just as soon as people all over the globe realise just how incredible this place really is.

KANGAROO ISLAND TOURS

It's easy to forget just how massive this island is, but for many people they just have a day or so to spend here. That's why it's always best to find a great ecotour for the island so you can see all of the major highlights 'KI' has to offer. From nearby Jervis Bay or as far away as Adelaide, tours will whisk you away on ships destined for the island paradise. You'll be able to visit sights such as Seal Bay, home to large collections of sea lions that can be seen only on a guided tour. You'll also be able to see Flinders Chase National Park, a sanctuary for endangered species as well as the home of some rather interesting fauna, as well as Little Sahara, a collection of giant sand dunes on the south end of the island.

There are many different tours available for you to choose from. Most will last a day, but there are some tours that will allow you to stay overnight at one of many accommodation styles available on the island, from the island's B&B's to one of the many farmhouses. Then, when you're all said and done on Kangaroo Island, the tour group will shuttle you right back to Adelaide or Glenelg, depending on the tour group's schedule or our personal preference.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO

NATURE TOURS

There are a number of great tours available that will allow you to tour 'KI' in style - you'll get to see as much of the island as humanly possible depending on the number of days your tour runs.

WATER ACTIVITIES

Kangaroo Island's got some amazing beaches, but it's important to know where to do what. The best swimming spots are all found on the northern side of the island, where the water is warmer and there are fewer dangerous riptides than in the south. The opposite is true for surf spots - the northern beaches are all too crowded for surf, but the south’s breaks are perfect for riding.

SOMEWHERE TO STAY

Kangaroo Island’s full of campsites ready for you to take advantage of, but if you’re not into camping, the accommodations on the island can be rather expensive. It might be easier to take a tour of Kangaroo Island and instead to choose an accommodation in Adelaide.
