SEAFOOD CAPITAL OF AUSTRALIA

In the seaside town of Port Lincoln, fishing is king. It’s one of the state’s most popular locations for visitors to drop a line, and the local fresh seafood is out of this world. Of course, if you're not into seafood there's plenty of other reasons to come visit - the great mix of aquatic species gives way to the flora and fauna in the 60,000 hectares of National Parks surrounding the town. Explore the amazing Eyre Peninsula coastline or visit some of Australia's cutest creatures at the Mikkira Station and Koala Park. You can even head indoors and take a look at the many history museums that dot the region. No matter what you're into, you'll be able to find it all and more here in the "capital of the Eyre Peninsula."

FISHING

Port Lincoln's status as a top fishing destination cannot be ignored; the town is one of the best places in the state and in the country to catch fantastic examples of aquatic species. The town's jetty as well as the jetties at Kirton Point Caravan Park are open for public use, as well as a number of jetties located in towns near Port Lincoln.  You can also choose to go rock fishing in one of the many locations; ask a local tackle outlet which spot they prefer. If you would rather head out to sea than fish from the shore, there are several boats that will take you out for just such a purpose.

It's important, however, before you head out fishing that you understand the current fishing regulations.  Size limits and bagging limits of different species vary in different fishing seasons, so if you want to head out pick up the latest edition of the town's free fishing guide from any local fishing or boating outlet.
