Quorn
Tell a FriendTRUE HISTORIC OUTBACK AUSTRALIA
The old Railway town of Quorn, established in 1878, has become a popular tourist "stopover', and holiday destination. Approximately 340 km north of Adelaide, the town has maintained its old world charm and is home to the Pichi Richi Historic Railway, which chugs along the countryside to Port Augusta.
Unspoiled streets, historic buildings, numerous bush-walking trails, and scenic drives, have created a destination you wont want to miss! Cafes, bric-a-brac stores, art galleries, and pubs dot the streets adding to the wonderful small town feel.
THINGS TO SEE & DO
TAKE A RIDE ON THE RAILROAD
Between the months of April to November the Pichi Richi Railway offers a link to the past from Quorn Station to Woolshed Flat, Stirling North and Port Augusta. Using steam locomotives or historic diesels and genuine timber-body carriages up to 115 years old, take a steam-train trip on a section of narrow-gauge line.
CLIMB DEVIL’S PEAK
Steep in places and recommended for experienced and fit walkers, the one-and-a-half to two hours for the return journey up to Devil’s Peak will take you 670 meters above sea level affording fantastic panoramic views. The trail is closed from 1 November to 15 April each year due to fire danger season.
