Fremantle, the port of Perth, is a remarkable area and an ever growing tourist attraction that you wont want to miss, This seaside town on the mouth of the Swan River is just a 20 minute drive from Perth’s center. The town is home to the worlds best preserved example of a 19th century port, the historic buildings of Freemantle showcase its maritime and convict history.
Freo is all about enjoying the laid-back feel; chill out in a street cafe; enjoying fish and chips fresh off the boat at Fishing Boat Harbour; or grab some mates for a pale ale at an award winning microbrewery. When the day is done, watch the town transform as the street cafes, bars and nightclubs crank up. When your night comes to an end, there are plenty of backpacker's hostels, Bed & Breakfasts, self-catering cottages, and hotels to choose from.

- The Fremantle Markets, located in an old Victorian building, have everything! If you’re looking for unique gifts, be sure to check this out. And don’t forget to sample the food!
- Fremantle Chocolate has something to satisfy any sweet tooth. The award-winning factory is located in the heart of South Fremantle. They make over 300 delicious chocolates and fudge products.
- Constructed by convicts between 1851 and 1855, the Fremantle Prison, was used as a maximum security prison until 1991. It offers an alternative view of the jolly seaside town.
- The Western Australian Maritime Museum is an international landmark. It tells the stories of WA’s early explorers, trade routes, naval defence, migration, and the resulting cultural. Australia II is on display, the racing yacht with the winged keel that won the America’s Cup from the United States in 1983.
- The Army Museum of WA houses the finest collection of militaria in WA. Exhibitions include the Pre-1914 gallery, WWI trench scene, WWI & WWII, Prisoner of War, and Post-1945.
- Monument Hill Memorial Reserve is Fremantle's heritage and National Trust listed war memorial. The Reserve has great ocean views and is just a short stroll up High Street to the east.
- Round House was built in 1831 as a prison, and is the State's oldest public building. Guides provide tours, explaining the early history.
