SO MUCH MORE THAN WINE!

The Margaret River region, while home to a world recognized wine region, offers so much more than simply wine tasting!

The Margaret River region is recognized as one of the worlds finest wine producers, home to 200 vineyards and 90 officially listed wineries. The region is known on a global scale for producing award winning Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Semillon.

As with anywhere, where there is good wine, there is good food! Port, cheese, beers, chocolate and coffee are all at their finest, as well as many great cafes and restaurants.

Unknown to many, Margaret River is a very dedicated surfing town, attracting professional surfers from around the world. Several worldwide surf competitions are also held here.

The region also is home to over 150 caves, located along the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge and beneath the Karri forest. Tour are available through three show caves: Lake, Mammoth and Jewel caves. The tour operate everyday, except Christmas Day. The caves were originally home to the Wardandi Aboriginal people.

The Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse at Augusta, is located on the most south westerly tip of Australia, where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. The lighthouse is over 100 years old and remains an important working lighthouse. Cape Leeuwin, is also the starting point for theCape to Cape Track.

If you haven’t yet had the chance, Whale Watching is a must! The Humpback and Southern Right whales travel from Antarctica to the warmer water of Margaret River, this is one of the few places in the world you can see these two species interact. Flinder Bay in Augusta is a great place to see them from June to September. From September to December whales are preset in Geographie Bay.Endangered Blue Whales have also been spotted here.
