Stirling Range National Park

Tell a Friend

This pristine park is most famous for the more than 1,000 different species colourful wildflowers that grow here, as well as great bushwalking and camping. Just an hour east of Albany you wont want to miss this stop along your journey. The Stirling Range offers a nice contrast to the seaside town of Albany.

Stirling Range National Park is home to one of Western Australia’s highest peaks, Bluff Knoll. The adventurous can take the challenge of the 5 kilometre return hike to climb to the top (2 hours up, 1 hour down). Bluff Knoll rises more than a kilometre into the sky, offering great views! You can also go rock climbing at Ellen Peak. The panoramic views of the park and surrounding plains are breath-taking! Bluff Knoll is one of the few places in WA where it snows – but this does not happen everyday, or every year even, much to the pleasure of the locals.

If you go bushwalking during the spring time, there is a very good chance of seeing mountain bells, banksias, and orchids. There is birdlife everywhere In the park, keep your eyes to the sky and who knows what you will see.

For those looking to stay a few days, and why not, there is a camp ground at Moingup Springs and plenty of accommodation nearby.
