American Birthday in Oz

Woke up this morning tired. 22 doesn't seem as exciting as I thought it would be. In the states it's 21 and then you're basically done with the big meaningful birthdays until you're the big 4-0 (Over the Hill). A bit homesick as majority of my friends won't be telling me happy birthday until tomorrow morning here because it is still the 26th of October in the States. Which this will be arond 5am before I wake for work at 730*must remember to put my phone on silent tonight*. Very excited to be celebrating in Australia though. Two months in and I wanted to never leave since day 2. Not day 1, considering it was my first day out of the United States ever and I was in a bit of culture shock. Culture shock in Australia? I mean, they speak English as well. I know, right. But, I did have a bit. My two months here have surpassed my expectations. Their way of life is a bit different than assumed by Americans. It's better. Although, I have to admit, it would be pretty cool to ride a kangaroo to work and 'throw another shrimp on the barbie'.

A new day, lets see what it brings us

as one of the big 40 brigade, its not that over the hill, I was 22 the first time I was in Australia too. Try to get excited about b'days for a couple more years yet!
