Manly Beach

Manly Beach is a short ferry ride from Circular Quay in Sydney, and probably one of the greatest free experiences you’ll have in Sydney. As you walk the trail from the Manly Wharf, you’ll eventually wind around to the Spit Bridge, and then into a national park where you can experience a bit of the bush.

I was truly taken aback by the beauty of the flora and fauna in this area.  From poinsettias in full bloom to wild parrots, you’ll see it all here on Manly Beach.

Stop by and have a look at the Manly Art Gallery and Museum.  If you stop for a visit on Wednesday, there’s no admission fee; any other day of the week the admission fee is $A3.60.

Presently the gallery is showcasing the work of photographer Sally Mayman and painter Dale Kentwell in their collaborative effort with the people of the Dampier Peninsula in an exhibit titled Guringal Festival - Saltwater Country.  All work is available for purchase, and you just have to see the gallery staff to inquire about that.

If you visit Manly Beach, be sure to wear comfortable shoes to go walking in, and plenty of sunscreen.  The sun’s rays are a bit strong, so even on what appears to be a cloudy day, you’ll get a bit of a burn.

There are also bikes for rent about a two minute walk from Manly Wharf. We found this to be a great way to get around there!
