My trip to Queensland

I’ve been living in Sydney for a few months now and I wanted to see more of Australia so I travelled to QLD over the Xmas holidays. First I flew to the Gold Coast with Tiger Airways (which seems to be the cheapest airline if you want to go to GC) and spent three nights at the motel Camden Motor Inn in Mermaid beach. The motel was quite cheap and clean; I would say that it was price worthy. The only negative thing was the staff- they were a bit unfriendly.

I went to the beach everyday and I have to say that the beaches in Gold Coast are amazing! The beaches are big and not crowded as in Sydney. I also went shopping to the factory outlet Harbour town. It is a big outlet where you can find almost everything you need and it is outdoors. I liked GC but I think three days was enough, if I would have stayed longer I probably would have been quite bored.

After Gold Coast I went to Brisbane. There I stayed at the hotel/ serviced apartments Republic Apartments. The apartment was really nice and the location was perfect. I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay in Brisbane. In Brisbane I visited an exhibition in Queensland Gallery of Modern Art. This is a good place for students and backpackers because it is free.

The area where the museum is located is also nice - South bank. Because there are no beaches in Brisbane they have created their own fake beach in South bank. The river that goes through the city is really nice as well - a tip is to take the ferry and watch the beautiful houses along the river. If you want to go partying in Brisbane Fortitude Valley is the best place to go. Valley could be described as the equivalent to Kings Cross in Sydney.
